Snow Expected As Winter Weather Advisory Issued: See NoVA Forecast (4)

VIRGINIA — Northern Virginia residents will see a second round of snowfall this weekend, although forecasters do not expect as much accumulation as Monday's storm.

A winter weather advisory has been issued that will run from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday. The National Weather Service is predicting 1 to 2 inches of snow will accumulate. The snow could create slippery road conditions, especially on bridges and overpasses.

The advisory applies to the Northern Virginia areas of Fairfax County, Arlington County, Falls Church, Alexandria, central and southeast Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. The entire region, including Loudoun County, is under a hazardous weather outlook due to the winter storm potential.

While states further south are seeing one of their biggest recent winter storms in the late week, AccuWeather says the storm won't have the impacts of a nor'easter in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. That may be welcome news for residents who saw up to 11 inches from Monday's winter storm.

"While a general 1 to perhaps 3 inches of snow is forecast, there can be pockets where a coating or a dusting of snow could be all that falls from the storm, especially along the upper mid-Atlantic coast," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson said.

The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang anticipates the winter storm to bring light snow — from a trace to 2 inches. Forecasters believe the highest accumulation will be south and east of Washington, D.C.
